Concrete Volume Spreadsheet

A takeoff worksheet for slab, footing, and rectangular concrete volume estimates.

Use this worksheet to turn field dimensions into order quantities with waste, unit conversion, and a clear record of what was included. It is written for quick checks on slabs, pads, grade beams, continuous footings, and simple rectangular placements.

Inputs To Record

  • Plan dimensions, thickness, thickened edges, steps, and turndowns
  • Openings, blockouts, construction joints, and deducted areas
  • Specified units, density if weight is needed, and assumed waste percentage
  • Concrete strength, exposure class, slump, air, and delivery constraints where known

Calculation Checks

  • Convert every dimension to one unit system before multiplying
  • Calculate base volume, added volume, deductions, and waste separately
  • Round order quantity practically, but keep the calculation record unrounded
  • Compare against drawings, field measurements, and supplier minimum order requirements

Engineering Notes

  • Concrete takeoff is not a structural design check.
  • For irregular geometry, break the placement into simple shapes and keep a sketch with the worksheet.
  • Do not hide waste factor inside the dimensions; show it as a separate line item.
