- Plan dimensions, thickness, thickened edges, steps, and turndowns
- Openings, blockouts, construction joints, and deducted areas

- Concrete strength, exposure class, slump, air, and delivery constraints where known
Calculation Checks
- Convert every dimension to one unit system before multiplying
- Calculate base volume, added volume, deductions, and waste separately
- Round order quantity practically, but keep the calculation record unrounded
- Compare against drawings, field measurements, and supplier minimum order requirements
Engineering Notes
- Concrete takeoff is not a structural design check.
- For irregular geometry, break the placement into simple shapes and keep a sketch with the worksheet.
- Do not hide waste factor inside the dimensions; show it as a separate line item.
