Temperature Converter

Convert temperature between Celsius, Fahrenheit, kelvin, and Rankine.

Live unit conversion

Converted value

68

deg F

20 deg C = 68 deg F

Conversion Basis

Temperature affects material properties, water viscosity, density, curing, and environmental measurements. Unlike most engineering unit conversions, temperature scales include offsets as well as scale factors.

deg F = deg C x 9/5 + 32; K = deg C + 273.15

Common Examples

  • 20 deg C = 68 deg F
  • 32 deg F = 0 deg C
  • 0 deg C = 273.15 K

Engineering Use and Limitations

  • Temperature differences convert by scale only; an interval of 1 deg C equals an interval of 1.8 deg F.
  • Kelvin and Rankine are absolute scales and should not be entered below absolute zero.
  • Laboratory standards may specify a reporting or calibration temperature that still governs after conversion.
